Linda CJ Turner

Trauma-Informed Practitioner | Neuroscience & Emotional Intelligence Practitioner | Women’s Empowerment Specialist

I specialise in helping women understand and recover from the emotional and psychological impact of difficult relationships, emotional abuse, coercive control, trauma and major life transitions.

My approach combines trauma-informed practice, neuroscience, emotional intelligence, nervous-system regulation and personal empowerment, creating a space where women can begin to understand not only what happened to them, but why they may still be experiencing its effects long after the situation has ended.

My work is compassionate, practical and individually tailored. I believe that understanding the brain and nervous system can help transform the way we understand our emotional responses, relationships and capacity for change.

Qualifications & Professional Training

My professional development has focused extensively on trauma, emotional wellbeing, neuroscience, emotional intelligence and personal transformation.

Trauma-Informed Practice

My work incorporates a trauma-informed understanding of how experiences such as emotional abuse, coercive control, prolonged stress and difficult relationships can affect emotional regulation, confidence, self-perception and relationships.

I place particular importance on safety, choice, autonomy, trust and emotional stabilisation.

Neuroscience

I have developed specialist knowledge in the application of neuroscience to emotional wellbeing and behavioural change.

This includes an understanding of:

• The stress response
• The nervous system and emotional regulation
• The effects of prolonged stress on the brain and body
• Neuroplasticity
• Emotional responses to perceived threat
• Habitual thought and behavioural patterns
• The relationship between thoughts, emotions and behaviour
• How repeated experiences can influence neural pathways

I translate complex neuroscience into language that clients can understand and apply to their everyday lives.

Emotional Intelligence

My work incorporates emotional intelligence principles to help clients develop greater awareness of:

• Their emotions
• Emotional triggers
• Behavioural patterns
• Communication styles
• Boundaries
• Relationship dynamics
• Self-awareness
• Self-regulation
• Empathy
• Decision-making

The aim is not simply to understand emotions, but to develop the ability to respond to them with greater awareness and choice.

EMDR Training & Trauma-Focused Experience

I have undertaken training and developed experience in trauma-focused approaches, including EMDR-related work.

Where appropriate and within my professional training and scope of practice, trauma-focused techniques may form part of an individual’s personalised work.

My approach places particular emphasis on stabilisation, emotional safety and readiness rather than rushing into trauma processing.

Somatic Approaches

I incorporate an understanding of the relationship between emotional experiences and physical responses.

This includes awareness of:

• Bodily responses to stress
• Hyperarousal and heightened alertness
• Emotional tension
• Grounding
• Regulation
• Developing awareness of physical sensations associated with emotions

This can help clients begin to recognise that emotional experiences are not simply “in their head.”

PSYCH-K®

I have trained in PSYCH-K®, a personal transformation approach focused on identifying and working with limiting beliefs and patterns.

This can complement broader emotional-awareness and personal-development work.

Reiki Master

I am a Reiki Master, having undertaken my Reiki training in France.

This forms part of my broader understanding of complementary approaches to relaxation, wellbeing and personal development. It is offered as a complementary wellbeing approach rather than as a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.

Specialist Experience

Over the course of my professional and personal development, I have developed particular experience and understanding in supporting women experiencing:

Emotional Abuse

Helping clients understand the often invisible effects of emotional abuse, including:

• Loss of confidence
• Self-doubt
• Confusion
• Hypervigilance
• Guilt
• Difficulty making decisions
• Fear of conflict
• Difficulty trusting themselves
• Emotional exhaustion

Coercive Control

I have developed particular knowledge of coercive and controlling relationship dynamics, including patterns involving:

• Financial control
• Emotional manipulation
• Isolation
• Monitoring
• Intimidation
• Gaslighting
• Control of decision-making
• Erosion of autonomy
• Intermittent reinforcement

My work focuses on helping women recognise patterns and rebuild their sense of choice and personal autonomy.

Relationship Trauma

I support women who are trying to understand the emotional consequences of relationships that have involved manipulation, control, betrayal, emotional neglect or prolonged instability.

This can include helping clients understand why leaving a relationship does not necessarily mean that the emotional effects disappear immediately.

Trauma Responses

My work incorporates an understanding of common trauma responses, including:

Fight — Flight — Freeze — Fawn

Clients may experience these responses through anxiety, avoidance, people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, hypervigilance or difficulty feeling safe.

Understanding these responses can help replace self-blame with greater self-compassion and understanding.

Women Rebuilding Their Lives

A significant part of my work focuses on women who have reached a point in their lives where they are ready to put themselves back at the centre of their own story.

This may follow:

• Divorce or separation
• Emotional abuse
• A controlling relationship
• Bereavement or major loss
• A significant life transition
• Loss of identity
• Years of putting other people first
• Relationship breakdown
• Major changes later in life

The work may involve rebuilding:

Confidence.
Identity.
Boundaries.
Self-trust.
Emotional independence.
Personal autonomy.

Dating & Relationship Recovery

I also work with women who are returning to dating after difficult or emotionally damaging relationships.

This can involve exploring:

• Why certain relationship patterns repeat
• Recognising healthy and unhealthy behaviours
• Establishing boundaries
• Developing emotional awareness
• Learning to recognise red flags
• Rebuilding trust in one’s own judgement
• Understanding attachment and relationship dynamics
• Developing healthier relationship expectations

For women dating later in life, the emphasis is on choice rather than fear — learning to recognise what feels healthy, respectful and emotionally safe.

Attachment & Relationship Dynamics

My work incorporates knowledge of attachment theory and relationship psychology to help clients explore patterns such as:

• Anxious attachment
• Avoidant patterns
• Fear of abandonment
• Fear of intimacy
• People-pleasing
• Over-functioning in relationships
• Difficulty establishing boundaries
• Repeating familiar relationship dynamics

The goal is greater self-awareness rather than labelling or diagnosing either the client or another person.

Neuroscience, Neuroplasticity & Change

One of the foundations of my approach is the principle that the brain is capable of change.

Understanding neuroplasticity can provide hope to clients who believe:

“This is just who I am now.”

Emotional patterns can become deeply established through repetition and experience, but with awareness, practice and appropriate support, new patterns can also be developed.

I use neuroscience education to help clients understand the connection between:

Brain → nervous system → emotions → thoughts → behaviour → relationships

This can make emotional experiences feel less mysterious and, importantly, less shameful.

Emotional Intelligence & Empowerment

I believe emotional intelligence is an important part of long-term recovery.

My work helps clients develop the ability to:

• Recognise what they are feeling
• Understand what triggers those feelings
• Distinguish emotion from action
• Communicate more effectively
• Establish healthy boundaries
• Identify their needs
• Make decisions from greater clarity
• Develop self-awareness
• Respond rather than automatically react

Ultimately, empowerment means moving from:

“What do I need to do to keep everyone else happy?”

towards:

“What is right and healthy for me?”

My Approach

I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

Every client brings a different history, personality, nervous-system response, relationship experience and set of circumstances.

Our work therefore begins with understanding you.

Depending on your circumstances, goals and professional suitability, sessions may incorporate trauma-informed approaches, neuroscience education, emotional-intelligence development, nervous-system regulation, cognitive and behavioural strategies, personal-development techniques and other approaches within my professional training and scope.

The emphasis is always on:

Safety

Creating an environment where you can speak without judgement.

Understanding

Making sense of your emotional and behavioural responses.

Regulation

Developing practical ways to manage emotional activation.

Self-Trust

Learning to listen to your own thoughts, feelings and instincts.

Empowerment

Rebuilding your ability to make decisions based on your own needs and values.

Forward Movement

Helping you create a life that is not defined by what happened to you.

A Human Approach

Professional knowledge matters — but so does human understanding.

I believe that people need to feel heard, respected and understood, particularly when they have spent years being dismissed, controlled or made to question their own reality.

My role is not to tell you who you are.

It is to help you understand yourself more clearly, recognise patterns, develop greater emotional awareness and make choices from a stronger foundation of self-trust.

You are not defined by what happened to you.

Your past may be part of your story — but it does not have to determine the rest of it.

Professional Disclaimer

My services are educational, supportive and trauma-informed in nature. They are not a substitute for emergency care, medical treatment or services requiring a regulated clinical licence. Specific services and techniques are offered only where appropriate to my professional training, qualifications, scope of practice and the requirements applicable to the client’s location.
