Thereās something deeply healing about being with someone calm.
Someone whose voice is soft, whose touch is gentle, whose smile doesnāt just light up a room ā it warms the places inside you that had gone cold.
Being around this kind of presence can feel like stepping into a sanctuary. Your nervous system begins to settle. Your breath slows. You start to believe ā maybe, just maybe ā that peace is possible.
But then…
There are still moments when panic rises from nowhere.
Moments when confusion clouds the mind.
When you find yourself questioning:
āWhatās wrong with me?ā
āWhy canāt I just relax?ā
āWhy am I still scared when thereās no danger here?ā
This is the residue of trauma.
Even in safety, the brain can cling to old survival patterns.
Even in the arms of calm, your nervous system might still expect chaos.
Because trauma teaches us to anticipate harm. And healing isnāt a switch we flip ā itās a path we walk.
This is the work.
⨠Standing back to observe.
⨠Pausing before reacting.
⨠Asking yourself: āIs this truth? Or is this a trauma echo?ā
⨠Learning to separate whatās happening now from what happened then.
Healing asks us to become both the nurturer and the investigator. To soothe ourselves and challenge our inherited beliefs.
To step out of the box that manipulation built for us ā the one lined with guilt, fear, and self-doubt ā and to check ourselves lovingly:
Am I choosing from fear? Or from freedom?
Some days, it feels like youāre lost in the fog.
Other days, itās like youāre in a halfway house between who you were and who youāre becoming.
But you are not failing. You are progressing.
Iām a Capricorn ā the mountain goat.
Weāre climbers by nature. We donāt give up halfway up the mountain just because the terrain gets rocky. We pause, we rest, we reassess our footing, and then we keep going ā slow, steady, determined.
The view is still forming.
But every step I take is a triumph.
Every time I choose clarity over chaos, I rise a little higher.
And even if I stumble, I trust myself to climb again.
To anyone else climbing their own healing mountain:
Youāre not behind.
Youāre not broken.
Youāre becoming.
Keep going. The summit is worth it. ššš
