Today marks what I hope will be the final legal chapter of a long and difficult journey.

As I prepare for the divorce signing, I naturally feel a mixture of relief, anticipation and hope. Like many survivors of prolonged physical, emotional and financial abuse, court appearances can trigger memories of past experiences, even when you know you are finally moving towards freedom.

My hope is simple—that the proceedings are calm, respectful and uneventful, allowing everyone present to focus on bringing this chapter to a lawful conclusion.

Whatever happens today, one thing cannot be taken away from me.

My life has already changed.

I have found peace in my new home, surrounded by genuine friends, kindness and support. The fear that once dominated my daily life no longer defines who I am.

Today is not the beginning of my freedom.

It is simply the legal recognition of a freedom that began the day I chose to reclaim my life.
