Emotional abuse, also known as psychological or mental abuse, is a form of mistreatment that involves the use of verbal or non-verbal tactics to manipulate, control, belittle, demean, or intimidate another person. Unlike physical abuse, emotional abuse primarily targets an individual’s emotional and psychological well-being, often leaving lasting scars on their mental health. Emotional abuse can occur in various relationships, including intimate partnerships, family settings, friendships, and workplace dynamics.
