It is remarkable how the truth of a situation unfolds over time. What may once have been hidden, minimised, or denied eventually becomes visible through the quiet accumulation of lived experience and shared knowledge.

There are people in France who knew. There are his children who, over the years, will have discussed behaviour and dynamics with their own partners. There are the mothers of their children, and their former partners, who have witnessed patterns directly or indirectly. There is an ex-wife, her partner, and extended relatives who carry their own understanding of what has taken place.

Here in Spain, friends in Moraira who protected and supported me have seen enough to understand. Their partners know too. Back in the UK, friends and family members are also aware. My sister-in-law and brother shared concerns with their children, who in turn spoke with their own partners. In every circle, information has moved quietly but consistently outward.

So while the question may sometimes focus on who “knows” within one family or another, the reality is broader than that. The truth does not rely on a single source or a loud declaration. It is carried through observation, experience, and time.

People may choose denial, but denial does not erase what has been witnessed. The truth does not need a megaphone — it reveals itself in the consistency of what others have seen, felt, and come to understand.
