🧠 My Future? That’s Mine to Decide. đŸ”âœ¨

“No one gets to decide my future for me. And the only ones who truly know what’s next… are the ones who will be standing right beside me.”

By Linda C J Turner, Therapist & Advocate

There comes a time in life—especially after pain, betrayal, or years of being silenced—when you finally realize: you don’t owe your future to anyone but yourself. And maybe, just maybe, to the people who’ve walked through the fire with you. The ones who held your hand when the world turned its back. The ones who never needed to ask for a front-row seat in your life—they were just always there.

Today, I stand in that truth.

I’m no longer handing over the pen to anyone else.
No one gets to plan, plot, guess, or gossip about where I’m going next.
Because my life? It’s not up for debate.

For years, decisions were made around me, about me, even supposedly for me—without my voice in the room. Control disguised as care. Suppression wrapped up in “concern.” But that chapter is over.

Now, I walk hand-in-hand with those who truly love me—my family, my constants, the ones who never needed proof or explanations. They’ve seen the truth. They’ve lived it with me. And together, we’re creating what comes next.

From a psychological perspective, this is what reclaiming your agency looks like:

  • It’s no longer seeking validation from those who don’t value you.
  • It’s choosing privacy over performance.
  • It’s standing in quiet strength and knowing that your worth was never up for negotiation.
  • It’s allowing only the trusted few into your sacred circle—and leaving the rest outside the gates.

Because the future is no longer something I fear.
It’s something I’m creating—with the people who matter most.

To anyone out there feeling watched, judged, or speculated about—please hear this:
You don’t owe your story to those who helped break you.
Tell it only to those who helped you heal.

And remember:
✨ Your future is yours. Let only love walk beside you as you step into it. âœ¨
