I work voluntarily with two groups that support women survivors of abuse. And far too often, I’ve witnessed the unimaginable: women on the brink of suicide.
These aren’t isolated stories. These are human lives — women who have been broken by relentless emotional abuse, gaslighting, and manipulation. What’s even more heartbreaking is that in many cases, it’s not just one abuser — it’s entire families or communities that gang up to protect the perpetrator, to silence the victim, and to cover up the abuse.
They shame. They threaten. They harass.
They wear the victim down until she feels like she has nowhere left to turn.
Some of these women don’t survive long enough to get the help they need. They’re made to feel so worthless, so alone, and so unloved that suicide becomes the only escape they can see. By the time someone reaches us, they are often already hanging on by a thread.
This is why we must do better.
Abuse — especially emotional and psychological — doesn’t always come with visible bruises, but it destroys lives just as deeply. And recovery is not a quick fix. It can take years of support, therapy, and rebuilding for someone to feel safe again — to trust again, to believe they deserve love again.
To anyone reading this:
Think before you speak.
Think before you judge.
Would you want your child, your sister, your mother, your friend to be treated like this?
A little kindness goes a long way. A few gentle words — a message of love, support, or encouragement — can be the very thing that keeps someone holding on when they feel like giving up.
I am in the business of saving lives.
Not destroying them.
And I will never stop fighting for those who feel like they’ve been forgotten.
If you know someone who’s struggling, reach out.
Be the light in their darkness.
You never know whose life you might save.
