EMDR Therapy | Healing Trauma through the Brain – Linda C. J. Turner

EMDR Therapy: Rewiring the Brain for Healing
At Linda C. J. Turner, we understand that healing from trauma isn’t about forgetting your past — it’s about helping your brain and body finally recognize that it’s over.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the many neuroscience-based therapies we integrate to support emotional recovery, resilience, and inner calm.
The Science of Healing
When you experience trauma, your brain’s alarm system — the amygdala — becomes overactive, while the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex struggle to make sense of what’s happening. Memories become “stuck,” replaying as flashbacks, anxiety, or physical tension.
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — such as eye movements, gentle tapping, or sound — to help both sides of the brain communicate and reprocess distressing memories.
Through EMDR, the brain is guided back into its natural healing rhythm. Over time, emotional intensity fades, the nervous system steadies, and new feelings of safety and confidence emerge.
Clients often describe EMDR as a deep sense of “finally letting go.”
Integrated Healing at Linda C. J. Turner
EMDR is just one of the many holistic therapies used in our sessions. Combined with approaches such as mindfulness, somatic awareness, and attachment-based therapy, it forms part of a gentle, neuroscience-informed path toward full mind–body restoration.
At Linda C. J. Turner, we help you rebuild from the inside out — safely, compassionately, and at your own pace.
