When I finally walked away from the chaos and control, something unexpected happened. A dear friend from church, who had quietly watched me dim under the weight of a toxic relationship, pulled me aside with the kind of honesty only true friends dare to deliver.

With a half-whisper and a full dose of sass, she said:
“HE is UGLY. I mean it—I honestly couldn’t understand what you saw in him! I was expecting someone more… I don’t know… George Clooney! Instead, I met Mr. Cave Troll with an attitude problem!”(she didnt actually call him Cave Troll)
Then she burst out laughing, and for the first time in a long time—I did too.

But guess what? I took her words to heart—not just about looks, but about value. About choosing someone who reflects the light you’ve worked so hard to reclaim. So I opened my heart again. Not to someone who looked like George Clooney… but someone who feels like sunshine.

Someone kind, self-aware, emotionally intelligent, funny, grounded—oh, and if I may say so—pretty easy on the eyes too 😉.

Well, that same friend met him last week. She smiled. I think I saw a little sparkle in her eye. No words needed. Just a nod of approval, and a quiet knowing look that said:
