🌿 Coming Through Trauma With Awareness and Emotion 🌿

#TraumaRecovery #SelfAwareness #NeuroscienceHealing

There’s something profound about feeling your emotions — not being overwhelmed by them, but truly being with them.

Lately, I’ve found myself more in touch with what I feel.
Not avoiding. Not numbing.
Just noticing. Sitting with it.
Letting it rise. Letting it pass.
Letting it teach me.

This is self-awareness. And it’s a kind of freedom I never had during the trauma.
Because trauma disconnects us from our emotions — sometimes for survival.
But healing reconnects us.

🧠 The Neuroscience Behind It:

Trauma lives in the body — in the amygdalahippocampus, and nervous system.
When we’re constantly in survival mode, the brain prioritizes safety over self-awareness.

But as healing begins, something beautiful happens:
🧘‍♀️ The prefrontal cortex re-engages.
💛 We start to reflect, not just react.
💡 Emotional memories become integrated instead of overwhelming.

And slowly, we come back to ourselves.

We become aware of how we feel in the moment, rather than buried in the past.
We begin to trust our inner voice again.
We notice the truth in our bodies before our minds can rationalize it away.

🪷 From Surviving to Feeling:

I used to think healing meant being “strong” or “over it.”
But now I know healing means being honest — with your heart, your triggers, your joy, your grief.

I cry now when I need to.
I laugh louder.
I pause when something feels off.
I honor every gut instinct.
I feel everything, and that doesn’t make me weak — it makes me whole.

🌟 Final Thought:

Self-awareness is not a destination. It’s a daily choice.
To feel.
To listen.
To show up for yourself with compassion.

And I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
