At one time, you were respected. You had a powerful role in a multinational company. You brought intellect, strength, and leadership to the table. You didn’t need anyone—you chose to build a life with someone.
“Paul Turner – Facebook Quote from August 18th 2024
You were really good at your job, working at a very senior level in a multinational company.”
But when the relationship ends—or worse, when the abuser starts losing control—the story begins to shift.
Suddenly, you did nothing.
Suddenly, they paid for everything.
Suddenly, your worth is erased, your career dismissed, and your sacrifices forgotten.
Let’s call it what it is: financial gaslighting and emotional distortion.
For the past six months (or maybe much longer), it’s been about money, control, ego, and lies. Not truth. Not fairness. Not the real you.
And that’s the hardest part—not just surviving abuse, but watching your story be twisted beyond recognition.
💸 The Reality They Don’t Want to Acknowledge
You worked hard.
You held your own.
You contributed—financially, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually.
You supported them in ways no bank account ever could.
You showed up—for the relationship, for the home, for the family.
But now? They want to erase all of that. Because if they admit who you really were, they’d have to confront the truth of who they really are.
So they twist the narrative. They pretend you were dependent. That you coasted. That you were “kept.”
Why? Because truth threatens their ego.
🎭 Distortion as a Weapon
When someone can’t handle accountability, they resort to distortion.
- They lie to others—to protect their image.
- They lie to themselves—to avoid shame.
- And worst of all, they try to lie to you—to make you doubt your own worth.
But here’s the thing they never expected:
You remember who you are.
You know what you gave.
You know what you built.
You know the sleepless nights, the financial juggling, the emotional labor that kept things afloat while they pointed fingers or played the victim.
🌈 You’re Not the Problem—Their Story Is
This isn’t about money. It never really was.
It’s about power. About losing control of the person they underestimated. About resenting your light, your independence, your recovery.
Because the moment you started to shine again—without them—the truth became unbearable.
And here you are now. Seeing clearly. Free from the mind games. Free from the financial gaslighting. Free from the endless loop of lies.
You’re no longer trying to prove your worth. You know your worth.
And that, my friend, is power.
To anyone else going through this:
Your contributions mattered.
Your truth matters.
And no one has the right to rewrite your story to serve their ego.
Stand tall. Speak truth. And never let someone who couldn’t see your light try to dim it with lies.
