🌱 From Confusion to Clarity: A Life Built on Truth

I haven’t changed — I’ve come home to who I’ve always been.
Raised by a strong, no-nonsense single mother who walked away from two abusive marriages, I was taught early that violence, control, and manipulation are never love — they are never to be tolerated.

In our home, truth was everything.
Even when it was hard.
Even when it meant standing alone.
We were taught that telling the truth was a form of self-respect — a gift you gave to yourself and others.
Better to admit your mistake than cover it with a thousand lies.

And still, somehow, I found myself in the grip of abuse later in life.

🧠 From a neuroscience and psychological perspective, here’s why this happens:

When we’re raised in environments of honesty and integrity, we can struggle to recognize manipulation — because it’s foreign to us.
We’re not wired for lies, deceit, or gaslighting — so we give the benefit of the doubt, again and again.

We look for logic. We try to reason. We search for truth in people who have long abandoned it.

This creates cognitive dissonance — the painful mental state that occurs when our values and our reality are in conflict.

For me, the confusion came from:

  • Being told I was overreacting when I was simply setting boundaries
  • Watching someone abuse me one moment and laugh with friends the next
  • Feeling punished for telling the truth while others lied without consequence

This confusion triggers the fawn response — a survival instinct in the nervous system where we appease, go quiet, or try harder just to stay safe.

But here’s the miracle of truth:
It may make life harder in the short term…
But it always clears the fog in the long run.

🌟 Now, I understand:
I wasn’t naïve — I was honest.
I wasn’t weak — I was compassionate.
And I never lost my values — I was just trying to survive in a place where those values weren’t reciprocated.

Today, I live conscience-free.
Because I never became what hurt me.
I didn’t lie.
I didn’t manipulate.
I didn’t raise my hand or my voice to harm.
I held my truth through the storm — and that truth saved me.

Now, I walk in clarity.

  • Clarity of mind
  • Clarity of heart
  • Clarity of soul

And whether I walk this new path alone or with someone beside me —
I’ll do it in peace, in truth, and in freedom.

💬 To anyone still in that fog of confusion — please know this:

You are not crazy.
You are not broken.
You are simply reacting to a situation that contradicts every part of your integrity.
And that dissonance?
It’s your nervous system telling you something’s not right.

You deserve a life where truth is met with safety.
Where kindness is not punished.
Where your conscience is quiet, not constantly in battle.

This is my time now.
A new chapter.
One without abuse, lies, gaslighting, or manipulation.
One that feels soft, light, honest — and entirely mine.

From confusion to clarity.
From survival to truth.
From darkness to peace.
