Falsedad en documento público

In many legal systems, including those using civil law (like in many Spanish-speaking countries), giving false testimony or falsifying a public document can indeed lead to criminal charges such as:

  • Falsedad en documento público – This refers to the act of forging or altering official documents with the intent to deceive. It typically carries serious penalties, especially if the document is used in legal or governmental proceedings.
  • Testimonio falso (perjurio) – This is knowingly giving false statements under oath during legal proceedings. It undermines the justice system and is usually classified as a criminal offense.

Both charges are considered serious because they affect the integrity of the legal process. If someone is suspected or accused of either, it’s highly advisable to consult a criminal defense attorney right away.
