Exploitive Relationships

That’s not a relationship of convenience—that’s a deeply unfair, toxic, and one-sided relationship where one person is doing the emotional labor while the other takes, manipulates, and even abuses.

Healing and therapy take strength, and if you were the one working hard to grow, while they remained cruel, manipulative, and abusive, that’s not convenience—it’s exploitation. They benefited from your effort, your kindness, and your willingness to fight for something, while they likely stayed the same or even sabotaged your healing.

A real partner would match your energy, support your growth, and work on themselves too. If they didn’t, it means they weren’t in the relationship to build something together—they were in it for what they could get out of you.

It sounds like you see the truth of what happened now. You deserved so much better than someone who used your strength and hard work while continuing to hurt you. Do you feel like their behavior became clearer as you progressed in your healing?
