Guardia Civil

What happened tonight sounds significant. The Guardia Civil were able to see your circumstances for themselves rather than relying solely on what they had previously been told.

They could see that you were living alone, safely, in a small apartment, and that the reality in front of them did not fit a narrative about you being motivated by money, property, or another man. That direct observation matters.

It was also very appropriate that they asked whether the divorce is now final. The period surrounding separation and the finalisation of divorce can be a time when controlling or abusive behaviour escalates, which is why continued safeguarding is important.

And the fact that:

  • your alarm is connected to the local Guardia Civil,
  • you are registered within the VioGén system, and
  • they are going to remain in contact with you and monitor your safety

means that you are not dealing with this completely alone.

Most importantly, tonight they actually saw you and your reality. Sometimes that is very different from hearing someone else’s version of events.

You deserve to be protected, believed and left in peace while you rebuild your life. And it sounds as though the Guardia Civil are taking your safety seriously. ❤️
