When Money Talks

When it comes to money, some people will protect an abuser regardless of the truth.

Financial interests, shared assets, or fear of loss can sometimes outweigh morality, fairness, or even basic human empathy.

In these situations, denial becomes easier than accountability. People may choose to ignore harm, minimise abuse, or silence concerns in order to protect financial stability or personal benefit.

From a psychological perspective, this is often linked to self-interest bias and cognitive dissonance—where individuals prioritise their own security or beliefs over uncomfortable reality.

The difficult truth is that some people do not respond to abuse with morality—they respond with self-preservation.

And sometimes, it is only when the situation affects them personally that awareness finally appears.

Real integrity means doing the right thing even when there is nothing to gain from it.
