🎨 Paint, Laughter, and the Sweet Sound of Freedom 🪣✨

On my recent trip back to the UK, I had the absolute joy of looking after my granddaughter while my daughter was in hospital. As a surprise, my granddaughter and I decided to roll up our sleeves and give the bathroom a little makeover—just a splash of paint, a few new touches, and a whole lot of love. We giggled over colour choices, debated between blush pink or seafoam green, and danced to the radio with paintbrushes in hand. 💃🎶

Why? Because that’s what families do. We show up for each other—not just in big moments, but in the small, paint-splattered ones too. 💗

This wasn’t our first decorating adventure either. Last time I visited, my grandson and I wallpapered my daughter’s beauty room. He was in charge of the paste (which got everywhere!) and I was on ladder duty. Memories like that? Priceless.

These are the moments that make my heart full. And they’re moments I was once denied.

There was a time when visits to see my daughter were strictly limited. A few days maximum, always under scrutiny. Decorating her home? Spending time freely with the grandkids? Absolutely not. If I spent money, it had to be from my personal UK account—not our joint one. Meanwhile, his children had full access, no limits, no expectations… but also, let’s just say… no wallpapering skills either. Funny how that works. 😉

As I painted the walls of my own home this week—music on, sun shining through the windows, no one controlling my time or money—I caught myself smiling. Because freedom has a very particular shade. It looks a lot like empowerment. It feels like autonomy. And it smells faintly of fresh paint and lavender cleaner. 🏡🕊️

Life now is colourful in more ways than one.

Here’s to late-night DIY ideas, spontaneous room makeovers, and families who love, support, and redecorate together. 💞

And to anyone who’s ever felt restricted, boxed in, or controlled—just wait. One day, you’ll be painting your own walls, with your own brush, in your own time… and it will feel so damn good.
