| Dear Linda, The European Union of Women Marina Alta (EUWMA) has been productive in the first quarter of 2025 and we have some exciting news to share about a major event we are planning and some new events coming up throughout the year. But first, could you please help us with our work by taking out a membership or renewing your membership? It’s just €15 per year. The funds are mainly used for promotions, to raise awareness about women’s issues and equality, and some for charity, supporting women in our community. |

| Have you heard about this NGO in Javea? They are doing amazing work on projects that unite cultures and rehabilitation programmes for victims of violence in the Ukraine conflict. The EUWMA wanted to support them and organised lunch and a talk for their first two groups of women for 2025 coming from Ukraine for a wellbeing break that truly makes a difference in their lives. Margaret Hales, President, talked about the history and activities of the European Union of Women and offered possibilities for how they could have their voices heard in Europe and the United Nations. We sponsored a home-made lunch with much love and care for both groups: 34 Ukrainian psychologists in January and 34 teachers in March. Their stories are heartbreaking, yet their strength, courage and love shines through. These wellbeing breaks are supported by volunteers in our community who offer psychology, massage and other wellbeing treatments, activities including motor bike rides, boating, wine tasting, hiking and more. They love walking to the beach and enjoying the beautiful views of Javea by the pool. They offered us a special dance performance, gifts of traditional Ukrainian garlands of flowers and bracelets made by children in bunkers, many hugs and tears and great friendship. There was poetry, life stories, accounts of women offering solace and the perspective of relative peace in warzones – no eye was left dry! It means a great deal to them that they are not forgotten in a war that seems to have no end in sight. These wellbeing breaks help them to renew hope and return to Ukraine to support many other lives and make a difference. This is a worthwhile project for volunteering and/or supporting. | International Women’s Day 2025 |

| This year for International Women’s Day, the EUWMA cooperated closely with three of our town halls in the Marina Alta: Benitachell, Javea and Teulada-Moraira. We have strengthened friendships with some truly amazing women with aims closely aligned with our own and we have met many new acquaintances. These three town halls in the Marina Alta made great efforts to produce 43 events over the period, among many others in all of the towns. |
