Sometimes You Don’t Need to Say a Word

People often ask what someone like this looks like.

What kind of person behaves this way over a lifetime.
What kind of face hides behind the secrecy, the meanness, the manipulation.

The truth is, sometimes words are unnecessary.

I keep a small collage of photographs — moments captured over the years. In many of them the eyes say more than anything I could ever explain.

On the rare occasion someone asks what he looks like, I simply open the collage and let them see for themselves.

I don’t say a word.

I just watch their expressions.

Because sometimes people recognise something instantly — something difficult to describe but impossible to ignore.

And in that moment, no explanation is needed.

Need I say more?
